WHIPgroup attorneys were able to obtain allowance of a patent application in only a year using the USPTO’s Track One Program. This is a prioritized patent examination program with fewer requirements than other programs, and does not require a pre-examination search. The patent application is directed to systems and methods for the preparation of a wound healant using platelet rich plasma and hyaluronic acid. It was filed February 1, 2018 and through quick responses and interviews WHIPgroup secured a Notice of Allowance on February 6, 2019. The fast turnaround between filing and allowance will help WHIPgroup’s client protect its technology against the constant threat of infringing products from competitors. The Track One program is effective to obtain patent protection quickly and serves as a critical tool when infringement by a competitor may be imminent.
