Tom Richardson, formerly President of Digital at the NHL, head of Publishing at the NFL and GM of Sports & News at AOL, will speak on the business imperatives and challenges of cross-platform programming. In today’s world, Cross-platform programming is mission critical for business of all sizes. Customers and consumers demand great media experiences on every platform they encounter, which requires corporates and publishers to develop UX and content distribution plans for dozens of platforms. Content considerations include multiple screen sizes, connected TVs, in-home devices like Alexa and Google Home, and multiple programming languages to deliver user experiences with the greatest cross-platform adaptability. These varying considerations make cross-platform a tremendous business challenge. Successful cross-platform efforts, however, will lead to stronger engagement with loyal consumers throughout their day and the ability to deliver consistent messaging to help grow businesses and brand awareness.
Richardson is now adjunct professor at Columbia University’s graduate program in sports management. He is also SVP of Strategy and Business Development for Mercury Intermedia, a leading cross-platform application development company with clients including Comcast, Red Bull Media, and TED.
